The Gold Coast of Africa


Ghana is the Gold Coast of Africa.  The first country to gain independence from the British. Gold coast was its original name.  It was derived from its history of Gold and other natural wealth.  The Republic of Ghana is now the official name.  The official language is English, although there are many dialects. 

Ghana is situated along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean in the Sub area of West Africa.  It is relatively small in area.  As of July 26 2020, the population based on worldometer elaboration of the United Nations data  is 31,112,174 with GDP of $69.76 billion USD. 

The people of Ghana are warm and friendly. We have the Akans in the Centre and South of Ghana, the Ga and the Adangbe in and around East of Accra, the capital city of Ghana.  The Mamprusi or the Mamprugu, and the Mole-Dagbane are people from the Northern and Upper East side of Ghana.
