Kente Origin- The Story of the Spider Weaver

Once upon a time lived two friends who by profession were expert weavers. They were also farmers. They resided in a small Bonwire village of the Ashanti part of Ghana. One day they decided to take a trek to the farm in the deep forest. They discovered a spider web and were amazed by the extraordinary pattern of its web design.
They decided to bring the spider web home to show to the people of the village, the amazing treasure they have found.
Because the web was too delicate, it fell apart in their hands. They felt very terrible.
Although disappointed, they never gave up. The next morning they set out on trek again to the same location. To their amazement, they saw the spider in action, making a new web.
As beautiful as it was to watch, the two friends stood in awe mastering the techniques and secrets of how the spider makes its web.
They went home to replicate the wonderous design they have found in the forest. Thus the legend of how Kente Cloth was born into he Ghanaian Community.
